BACS’ Hope Intervention Program (HIP) is excited to announce the grant opening of The Spot (It’s a H.I.P. place to be)! The Spot is a new youth wellness center, designed by and for TAY (transitional aged youth). Youth met with HIP staff over two months to come up with concepts, colors, and groups; when it came time to make the space their own, more more than 15 youth helped out with prepping, painting, and furniture construction! At the Open Mic Grand Opening, youth participated in sharing poetry, speeches of their lived experience and words of encouragement, freestyling, comedy, and raps.
Moving forward, The Spot will have groups, drop-in hours, vocational training connection (offered through YEP), community college presentations, and more. The Spot also has resources for participants while on site during drop in, including computer access for employment & housing searches, phones to use for shelters and employment, a library, and more. On site, we are also providing basic supplies for those in crisis including condoms, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes, snacks.
BACS is also interested in learning more about other TAY resources in the community. If you have information, please email us!
