Since our founding in 1953, BACS has become a local leader in homelessness prevention programs, facing the housing crisis head on through rapid re-housing, targeted outreach for people experiencing homelessness and support navigating the web of services, purchasing housing across the Bay Area to house people who would otherwise be homeless, and much more. BACS also provides recovery-oriented behavioral health services across the spectrum of need.
Our programs span northern and central California and focus on doing ‘whatever it takes’ to help individuals stay out of institutional care and stay connected to their communities.
All of our programs seek to support the “whole person” with whatever they need to thrive.
“This place is family to me. Nobody ever gave up on me. Even if I disappeared, when I did show up, the treatment was still there. I felt really welcomed. They really care about people here – staff like their jobs, and you can feel that.”
