Ursula Sears, previously a BACS Peer Counselor, has been promoted internally to Program Supervisor at BACS’ Hedco Wellness Co-Op in Hayward.
Ursula first got connected to BACS in 2014, when she came to Hedco for her interview and fell in love with the location – especially our massive kitchen. She immediately began thinking of all the opportunities to help people at Hedco.Ursula quickly brought her passion and drive to Hedco, and she spearheaded the effort to provide daily hot meals to the community. Ursula will tell anyone who asks that she loves her job, and says “I love to be a part of a team that is doing “whatever it takes” to provide a safe place with a hot meal, providing wellness groups dynamics in various creative ways instilling a vision of hope. And, allowing people (our participants) to know that we really care.” She has been an incredible resource to participants, peers, and staff during her two years at BACS.
Ursula is delighted to be promoted to Peer Supervisor and says,
“being given the opportunity to be part of management, work with management, absorb wisdom-talent and knowledge from the core team of men and women is confirmation that HEDCO is home for me. This position means for me to continue to be a team leader, increase capacity by outreach, improve retention by providing wellness services that our valuable and obtainable to our unique demographic community members. And, most important continue to provide a safe healing environment.”
