Hedco CLC, continued

Our Program

Services provided at Hedco House include prevocational activities, socialization, education, counseling, crisis intervention, service coordination, and assistance with employment.  These services help program members live as independently as possible in the community, and support them on their paths to recovery.  Program members receive the support and education they need to better manage their symptoms and become increasingly stable and involved in their communities.

Each program member participates in a daily check-in group and takes part in structured prevocational activities in the clerical, kitchen, or house and grounds group.

We offer a number of psychoeducational and supportive groups as well:

Each week members may participate in a Wellness and Recovery Action Plan group.  In this group, program members learn to identify their triggers and warning signs and develop plans to promote their own wellness and recovery.

A weekly employment group provides support to program members who are interested in paid employment, volunteering, or education and training.  Members of this group work on resume development, application completion, interviewing skills, and issues relating specifically to work and school environments.

Our Dual Diagnosis group addresses issues of mental health as well as substance abuse and dependence.

The presence of teachers from the Hayward Adult School allows us to offer a number of other groups to support members in developing important life skills.  These groups include communication skills, leisure skills, fitness and relaxation, health and nutrition, math, reading, computer skills, and sewing.

Program members also have the opportunity to meet individually with staff members to work on the goals they wish to pursue in attending Hedco House, to receive support in managing symptoms, or simply to talk about day-to-day problems that may arise.  Hedco House offers special events and outings into the community periodically as well.

At Hedco House we support the wellness and recovery of our program members by treating each person with respect and dignity, offering a place to belong, and providing meaningful work.

Hedco House is conveniently located one block away from the Hayward BART station, where numerous bus lines stop as well.
