Older adults experiencing early memory loss have an opportunity to enjoy an innovative weekly memory-enhancing program. ScheduleWeekly on Fridays from 12 Noon to 4 PM LocationNorth Berkeley Senior Center 1901 Hearst Avenue - Berkeley Participation REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED and acceptance into the program involves an interview A free visit day can be arranged. ProgramBACS has launched Brain Boost! Lead by teacher Carol Kehoe, participants will join others experiencing early memory loss and benefit from mental and physical exercise to cope with changing cognitive status. Activities provide an appropriate level of challenge and include memory enhancement techniques, stress management, in-depth trivia, physical exercise, and debate topics. Lunch, speakers, guided imagery, and outings will round out the curriculum. Benefits of such programs, which have begun to open nationwide, include support, networking, and early linking to community resources for participants and families. Brookdale Foundation recently designated BACS as a 2009 grant recipient to start up the early memory loss program. For nearly 60 years, the foundation has worked to advance the fields of geriatrics and gerontology and to improve the live of senior citizens throughout the nation.
